I've been watching Letterman since I was a kid. It's weird to think a person who you can see any given day with a click of the remote is going away after 33 years. Have I watched The Late Show every night over the years? Absolutely not but there was always that moment when I was home and I was like, "Hey Dave's on!"

I'm lucky to say I got to see his show three times while visiting New York. Michael J. Fox was the featured guest one night, that was one of the best moments in my existence. I was fortunate enough to see Martin Short on another visit.

A trip to NYC almost always included a visit to the Ed Sullivan Theater. It was so cool to see how the show is taped. It happened daily at 4:30pm. Dave liked it chilly in there, I think 55 was the temp he preferred. If you've been in the CYY studio during Markathon, it's kinda like that. They had a bunch of staff running up and down the aisles to get the crowd fired up while Shaffer and the band played a few songs. Dave usually would come out and interact with the audience for a few before the actual taping began. During commercial breaks, clips of old shows gone by would be on the monitors above where you were sitting. Being an audience member on the Late Show was something I'm very happy I got to check off my list. Wish I had some pics from inside, but they were prohibited.

Every time I went to the show, I would always go next door to Rupert Jee's Hello Deli! It was located right next door to the legendary Ed Sullivan Theater. Dave had Rupert, live from the deli, on the show with him occasionally for years.

I always loved when they did stupid sh*t outside of the Ed Sullivan Theater. Sometimes it was stupid, sometimes it was jaw dropping awesome. Here's a collage of the best of the best from over the year...this is pretty awesome!

Haven't gotten choked up at the TV in awhile, pretty sure that might happen tonight. Cheers to Letterman and a 33 year legacy that he leaves behind, it's definitely the end of an era. Late nights won't be the same with out him.
