Yesterday afternoon I had Prince fanatic Dean Ford stop by the station to chat about the tribute show that was happening at Port City Music Hall. Prince was a big loss for Dean, who found out about Prince's death from one of the several news outlets that were trying to reach him. Coincidentally he had played a Prince tribute show the night before and even had another one lined up in the next week. If you know Dean or have been to one of the Purple Brainz shows around Halloween, you know he's got the voice, the moves and the mannerisms down.

Last night was no different, Dean and his band the Keepsakes played for nearly three hours to a large group of Prince fans that got together to celebrate the life of the musical genius that left us too soon. Emotions were flying. I remember at one point to the right was a group of people singing and dancing, to the left I saw a woman crying. Last night was just what we needed here in Portland. It was a nice way to celebrate and say goodbye.
