A patient in India who reportedly went to the doctor complaining of persistent buzzing in his ear was diagnosed with aural myasis, which is parasitic infestation of the body of a live mammal by fly larvae (maggots) that grow inside the person while feeding on its tissue. This condition usually takes place within the nose or in this case, the ear.

This is supposedly fairly common in tropical and sub-tropical places. Great, I'll keep that in the back of my mind as I plan my tropical vacation. For now I'll take the Maine winter, and keep this in mind when I find myself bitching about the cold.
