Stop us if you've heard this story before. Another longtime clothing chain is set to cease operations due to a marketplace they can no longer compete in. This time, it's Dressbarn, a women's clothing store that has been around for almost 60 years. They plan to shutter all 650 stores they have nationwide, including 5 locations in Maine.

According to NewsCenterMaine, there is currently no timetable on how quickly Dressbarn will close all of their stores. That leaves the Dressbarn locations in Augusta, Bangor, Biddeford, Kittery, and South Portland with a lot of unknowns for their customers and their employees,

Dressbarn isn't the first well-known and long established retailer to have to close due to declining profits and they likely won't be the last. Brands like Payless Shoesource, Gymboree and even more than 300 locations of Family Dollar have closed or will close by the end of 2019.
