After we waited patiently for Krispy Kreme to open on Center Street in Auburn, just shy of a year later it is forced to close for two weeks to repair damage from a fire.

The Sun Journal reports that a minor fire broke out after an electrical box sparked early Tuesday morning causing shortening in the fryer to catch fire. The good news is the fire suppression system did it's job and extinguished the fire before it caused extensive damage. The bad news is that anytime a fire suppression system goes on, you've got a lot of clean up to do.

So Krispy Kreme in Auburn is down but not out. Sure the glowing "hot now" sign won't be on beckoning you to stop in and grab a hot, fresh, delicious donut, but be patient. They'll be back soon. In the meantime, keep an eye on the Auburn Krispy Kreme's Facebook page for an announcement of when the store will reopen. If you're REALLY jonesing for that treat in the meantime, the Saco Krispy Kreme is open and ready to hook you up. It might be a bit of a drive, but you gotta do what you gotta do, right?
