The defensive struggles continue for the Boston Red Sox and it proved to be costly in a 14-5 loss to the Yankees in their series finale. If the defense wasn't bad enough, the pitching did not do much to help the problem. Felix Doubront dropped to 1-3 after giving up seven runs on six hits and two walks while not making it out of the third inning. Craig Breslow was only in the game for one inning but added fuel on the fire by walking three and allowing five hits that led to five more Yankee runs.

The Sox will try to get back in the win column when they travel to Toronto for a weekend series. Jake Peavy, Clay Buchholz and Jon Lester will get the starts on the mound.

Following Thursday's loss Manager John Farrell talked about his teams poor defense.
