Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens says he would gladly accept an offer to be the next USA Basketball coach - if asked.

Current USA coach Mike Krzyzewski said earlier this week that the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio would be his last.

Now the talk is who gets the job.

Jerry Colangelo is chairman of USA Basketball and would make the pick.

Stevens told Celtics.com's Marc D'Amico that he would answer yes before anyone finished asking the question.

While the name Gregg Popovich (San Antonio Spurs) is the name mentioned often there is a growing belief in basketball circles that Stevens might indeed be the best fit to replace Coach K.

Stevens has been involved in USA Basketball since 2010.

He begins his third season as Celtics coach with opening night next week. The C's play the Knicks in an exhibition game tonight.
