Crash Barry loves Maine, he loves mary jane and he loves to write about both. His name is mostly known from his time over the years in such as the Portland Daily Sun, Casco Bay Weekly and the Bollard. He's also put out successful books such as Tough Island and Marijuana Valley. This go around, Barry has taken his last book, Sex, Drugs and Blueberries and made it into a feature film staring our good friend Dave Gutter (Rustic Overtones, Paranoid Social Club, Armies). Check out the trailer!

If you haven't read the book, here's a basic breakdown to pick at your interest.

Portland based musician decides the music thing just isn't going to pan out for him. So he and his wife head up, Down East to Washington County for a true Maine life. She a school teacher has a job up there and he... well, just gets caught up in a bunch of bad stuff whilst waiting for his real job to kick in. To make ends meet he does one of the most Maine things anyone can do, he picks blueberries out in the fields. Not an easy task. Or a decent paying one. The story rolls on as Ben Franklin, the main character gets tangled in a world of Sex, Drugs and Blueberries, not to be a smart ass or anything. The book circles around the awful oxycotton scene of that county back in the early 2000's.

The music is a healthy heaping of (Dave) Gutter fresh made tacks with his bands and solo. Anyone who knows Gutter, knows he can do this. From the stage to videos, he's had his fair touch of acting. This time, it's a bit more involved and we can't wait to see the final cut! Maybe you can't either!? If so....

Theres a simple, hassle free way to see this film's debut this weekend. Don't miss out on this very special local collaboration. For a bus ride to and from the premier in Camden, tix to the movie, plus a solo performance from Dave Gutter playing music from the film (and some more treats)....
