Space Gallery does a great job of bringing music films and documentaries to Portland for people to see. Don't miss out on these opportunities! A lot of music docs get made and then no one hears about them unless 8 years later Netflix decides to pick up one or two.
Space Gallery is a non-profit operation so the focus is on the music and the art; the things that are most important at any venue. Yes, you can buy a beer and drinks there to help support their efforts and its a great place to meet folks who love the arts like you do, but you can tell at any Space Gallery event that everyone is there for the right reason. Space has been easily one of the most important venues in the northeast for many years now.
This documentary should be a great watch and tribute to the great Elliot Smith. Before he passed away, he was becoming one of the great American songwriters. He was nominated for an Oscar even for his song, "Miss Misery" from the movie Good Will Hunting. His records were selling well and it seemed that the intense beauty that was found in the music of Nick Drake and Jeff Buckley carried on in a new shape that was Elliot Smith. Unfortunately, we lost him just as soon as we got to know him.
Come out Mon or Tues night to Space Gallery. Maybe I'll see you there!
