For Mainer Ryan Flaherty and the Baltimore Orioles the baseball season came to a crashing halt last night. A four game sweep by Kansas City and another wild card team heading to the World Series.

Flaherty finished the ALCS as Baltimore's top hitter. His batting average was .333 (4-for-12) with a home run and 3 RBI. He walked three times and scored two runs.

His .467 OBS(on base percentage) was by far the best of the O's in the KC series.

Flaherty hit .221 in 102 regular season games.

The former Deering HS and Vanderbilt standout completes his third year in the big leagues. His father, Ed, is the longtime USM baseball coach.

Now the question is - with J.J. Hardy signing a new deal to stay as O's shortstop and with Manny Machado coming back from injury as third baseman, is it Flaherty and Jonathan Schoop battling for the second base spot next year?
