Supposedly, Flaming Lips fans are getting a new album ... assuming, that is, that the news isn't merely a premature April Fool's Day prank.

The new album, according to a press release from the band, is called 'Flaming Side of the Moon' and serves as a companion album to Pink Floyd's classic 'The Dark Side of the Moon.' And here's the deal: You're supposed to listen to both the new Flaming Lips album and 'Th Dark Side of the Moon' at the same time.

That's not the weird part -- the band has done stranger things before. But we can' help but raise a skeptical eyebrow given the timing of the announcement, especially considering the band claims its project was composed to sync with the classic film 'The Wizard of Oz.' Hmmm ...

But if anybody could accomplish this, it's the Flaming Lips. After all, this is a group that re-recorded 'The Dark Side of the Moon' with Peaches and Henry Rollins a few years back. And nobody tried to stop them. So if this doesn't turn out to be some elaborate joke -- nothing's available on iTunes yet, and "a limited edition 100 vinyl copies will be distributed to friends and family" -- this seems like the next logical step.

Still, this stream is now available, so at least the band did make something ...
