With their HBO series 'Sonic Highways' and accompanying album set to be released soon, Foo Fighters will be promoting the project by playing 'Late Show With David Letterman' all next week, beginning Monday, Oct. 13.

The band's HBO 'Sonic Highways' series follows Dave Grohl and company as they travel to studios in eight different cities (Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles,. Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Washington, D.C.), recording a song in each city.

In a trailer for the series, Grohl explains that in each studio they would record an instrumental track and he would go interview famous musicians from that city. Then, Grohl would take the interviews and use them to write lyrics for the song. He says, “If you go to Nashville you have to talk to Dolly [Parton], if you go to Austin you have to talk to Willie [Nelson], if you go to New York you have to talk to Chuck D.” Grohl reveals he also interviewed Slash, LL Cool J, Joan Jett, Mike D, Buddy Guy and Bonnie Raitt, saying, “It’s all over the map.”

Some of those artists may also be appearing with Foo Fighters on 'Letterman.' Each night will have a different guest musician sitting in with the band, but details of who will be playing with the Foos have not yet been announced.

The eight-part 'Sonic Highways' series premieres on HBO Friday, Oct. 17 at 11PM ET. The album release date is Nov. 10. You can pre-order 'Sonic Highways: The Album' via iTunes here. CDs, vinyl and various bundles are also available for pre-order at this location.
