Once again, Maine earns it's title of "Vacationland," and then some.

As reported by WCSH6, AirBnB raked in a staggeringly impressive $26 Million in revenue from home and apartment rentals in Maine listed on the site. This came from approximately 174,000 visitors to the state. Mind you, that's just under 3x the size of the population of Portland!

Speaking of Portland, 51,000 of those visitors came to the city specifically, and property owners there made roughly $7 Million. Hold off your celebrations for now, though: as we wrote about earlier this year, Governor LePage's new proposed tax plan calls for a 9% "lodging" tax on sites like AirBnB, which could potentially take that number down in the coming years.

What do you think of these huge numbers, and the possibility of new taxes on them? Let us know in the comments!
