Danzig doesn't like anyone filming or taking pictures of him at shows. Just the other night, supposedly (not proven), things got a bit ugly. Fair warning to those going to the State Theatre tonight! Especially you in the last row, seat 40.. don't take any pictures of Danzig!

Before you head out to the Danzig/Superjoint/Prong show tonight over at the State Theatre, our good friends at the State there want to stress tonight that there be absolutely No Photo/Video from ANY device, No Glass, No Chains, No Weapons, No Firearms and No Colors.

Something happened at a Danzig show just the other night. I wasn't there myself so I can't say one way or the other. It will all have to be played out with witness and statements, etc. I understand how some musicians want you to enjoy the moment, not capture it. I get that for sure. And let's face it the annoyance of people taking 500 pictures a shows these days is bull----.

Artists have other reasons for not wanting pictures though I'm sure. Some look extra ugly when they sweat or are worried their latest Botox injections might not be in place or their boob job isn't so perky anymore. Sucks I'm sure.. BUT YOU'RE ON STAGE!! I'm not a big fan of pics of myself either, but I do them cause I meet people who like pics and of course we want to capture special times here at radioland too. So I partake in some.

I guess the real deal is this though, even though you may not want photos take of you at your concert if you're a musician or performer (and this goes to anyone) ...

WAKE UP! IT'S 2015! SMARTPHONES! HOW THE HELL DO YOU STOP PEOPLE FROM TAKING PICTURES AT PERFORMANCES WHERE THERE'S HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS OR TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE?? HERE'S THE BEST ANSWER; YOU CAN'T.

YOU. CAN'T.

SO DO ONE OF TWO THINGS...

1. Stop performing live

2. Realize the reality and try to move on and deal with it.

Those are your options. Oh and if you don't want people taking your picture you might want to not go outside too! Just a suggestion. Hey, I understand if you're a violinist or a jazz piano player and you don't want flash cameras or a loud TV on in the back of the club. That can be handled. Small and intimate shows demand a bit more compliance in the rules department I suppose and they're easier to make happen. With a real big live concert though? A big ass live event? Just play! You can't monitor two thousand people, NOR SHOULD YOU. They kinda paid you money to monitor you. Sorry.

I'm not saying this to be a jerk at all, but let's move on to other more important problems music people. Things that affect your living and life as a musician. Like how to help you sell more than 5 records a year. Or help you to realize charging $35 for new vinyl isn't gonna work out for anyone. Or how to get people out to your shows!  THOSE are true music concerns of the day. This with the pictures, this is something you have to live with now. LIKE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US IN THE WORLD ON A DAILY BASIS. Most privacy is unfortunately done and over. Unfortunately.

(BTW, I found a bunch of pics of Danzig on Getty. Whats up with that??)

Read what happened a couple nights ago, then the follow up too.
