Rockstar open world game, Grand Theft Auto V, has sparked quite a bit of controversy since its release, but that hardly matters when you move 45 million units.

Although Grand Theft Auto V was removed from Target and Kmart store shelves throughout Australia, the game's sales are still climbing. VG247 reports Take-Two has announced that over 45 million units of GTA V have been shipped. Of those that were shipped, 10 million were from the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions, which launched this past November. While we all know that units shipped doesn't exactly mean units sold, Take-Two announced last October that 34 million GTA V copies shipped and then later confirmed that the number would be changed to reflect the amount sold. These numbers are impressive when you factor in that millions of fans are still waiting for the game's PC release.

"Looking ahead, we expect that our fourth quarter will provide a strong finish to fiscal 2015, anchored by the launches of Evolve and Grand Theft Auto 5 for PC, along with an array of other offerings," said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick.

While it hasn't been confirmed just yet that the 45 million shipped will turn into 45 million sold, with the way GTA V has been doing so far, that announcement may not be far off. The PC version of Grand Theft Auto V will finally launch on March 24.
