WCYY listeners with a sharp eye (or ear, we guess) for detail might have noticed that recently, we've been playing more 90's and 00's rock and a little less of the current wave of alternative music. Well, that was a very conscious decision on our part.

It's not that we don't like the new alternative that's out there - artists like Catfish and the Bottlemen, K Flay and The Struts are out there making awesome new music! And trust us, we'll still be playing them for you on the airwaves. However, by playing a lot of these new tunes, we've slowly been moving away from the music that made WCYY famous.

So, rather than go through an identity crisis like your Aunt Mildred when she got really into roller derby, we've decided to shift around what we're playing to stay true to our alternative rock roots. It's the music that launched our humble station, and made us what we are today.

What does this mean for you WCYY freaks? Well for fans of bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Green Day, and other CYY listener favorites, expect to hear more of what you love!

As always, thank you for reading! We hope you enjoy the changes we've made - we're proud of them, and ready to carry them forward (or, musically, just a little backward ;) ).

Eternally (but platonically) yours,
Team WCYY
