It took 13 innings but the Boston Red Sox were able to beat the Rays 2-0 thanks to the hitting of Rusney Castillo and pitching of Rich Hill.Castillo delivered the game winning hit in the top of the 13th when he roped a 2-run single to left center field providing the only scoring of the day. Dustin Pedroia started the rally with a one out single followed by singles by Xander Bogaerts and Travis Shaw to load the bases. Castillo then came up with the hit to drive in Pedroia and Bogaerts.

Rich Hill got the start for Boston and went the first 7 innings where he struck out 10 and allowed just 1 hit. Hill was making his first start for the Red Sox and his first in the Majors since 2009. Hill joins Hideo Nomo as the only Red Sox pitchers in the last 100 years to strikeout 10 ad allow a run or less in their first start with the team.

Hill did spend tome with Boston as a reliever form 2010-2012 and made 40 appearances during that time.

Boston continues its 9-game road trip with a stop in Baltimore on Monday.
