Jack White has always been praised as an innovator in the music industry, but he’s continuing to push those boundaries with the debut of his brand-new virtual reality app, ‘Third-D.’

White designed the groundbreaking app with the help of the tech company, Jaunt. The app -- in conjunction with a 5- or 6-inch Android phone and Google Cardboard headsets -- will allow fans to watch the former White Stripes frontman perform as though they were sitting right there in the venue in-person.

Jaunt helped create this near-real experience by using 360-degree, stereoscopic, 3D cameras and microphones. The high-tech equipment captured White performing his songs, ‘Freedom at 21’ and ‘Ball and Biscuit,’ at Fenway Park and the White Stripes’ ‘Dead Leaves On the Dirty Ground’ at Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Colorado.

Lucky Nashville fans will have the chance at snagging Google Cardboard headsets on Dec. 10 as White’s label, Third Man Records, will be giving away a free set to the first 75 people to purchase the special-edition ultra-LP version of the singer’s latest album, ‘Lazaretto,’ in-store.

‘Third-D’ is available now for all Android users on Google Play. Get a sense of what you can expect from the app by watching the teaser video above.
