Jack White to Take Indefinite Break From Touring

Jack White has announced he will take a break from touring after a long run in support of last year’s Lazaretto. Per the announcement, White has all intentions to go out with an -- albeit acoustic -- bang.

White broke the news in a press release today (April 14), which read, “After many years of performing in a multitude of configurations, Jack White is announcing that he will be taking a break from performing live for a long period of time.”

Before then, White will play a string of U.S. shows in the five states he has yet to play. The sets will be entirely acoustic, featuring White and a backing band consisting of Fats Kaplin, Lillie Mae Rische and Dominic Davis. The five shows will mark White’s first time performing all-acoustic sets.

The upcoming concerts won’t be announced until the day of at 8AM local time. Then, tickets will be first-come, first-served for $3 a piece and one ticket per person. Tickets will go on sale at the venue at 12PM. You can stay tuned for the show announcements here.

After White wraps up the acoustic shows, he certainly won’t have difficulty keeping himself busy. He was recently announced as one of the owners of Jay Z’s streaming service, Tidal. The White Stripes frontman is also working on American Epic, a three-part music documentary, with producer T Bone Burnett and Robert Redford.

White just completed his first Coachella set last weekend (see photos here) and will return to the festival for another round this Saturday, April 18.
