The longtime dockside restaurant that closed its doors in 2015 will get a new building, new name and new ownership when it reopens this summer.

The Spring Point Marina in South Portland has just felt a little different since Joe's Boathouse closed its doors for good late in 2015 after close to 23 years serving locals and tourists. But those who long for a bite to eat right on the coastline, there will be a new restaurant to satisfy those cravings.

According to the Portland Press Herald, 43North will occupy the spot left behind by Joe's Boathouse. It will be owned by Laura Argitis, who owns the Old Port Sea Grill on Portland's waterfront. The new name of the restaurant came from its latitude but that isn't the only new thing patrons can expect.

The restaurant will now be a two story restaurant, and its menu will focus in on American cuisine with different worldly influences. Similar to many of the most popular restaurants in Portland, there will be a concentration on nightly specials and changing the menu as more fresh product becomes readily available.

As construction continues, 43North hopes to open by late May or early June.
