Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme appeared on the BBC’s children’s channel CBeebies to tell a bedtime story about dragons. You can watch him reading the story in the video above.

He began the U.K. TV presentation by introducing himself and a furry friend, saying: “Hey, I’m Joshua, and this is my dragon, Snoop Bob Meatball. Do you like dragons? I love dragons, especially good dragons. And tonight’s bedtime story is all about a heroic and good dragon that is learning to be the best that he can be. It’s called Zog and it’s written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Alex Scheffler.”

The video was made around the time Homme and bandmate Dean Fertita delivered a version of their track “Villains of Circumstance” with a string section on the BBC’s show Later With Jools Holland. The track appears on latest QOTSA album Villains, which was released in August.

“At the end of the day, this is just a musical way to explain a lifetime,” Homme said ahead of the album’s release. “So the most important record I’m making is the one I’m working on. For the lack of a better term, I bet my life on it. If you don’t risk anything you’re not gonna get anything. I don’t want to copy myself, I just want to take another change at it. It keeps it always exciting that way.”

QOTSA appeared at the Foo Fighters’ CalJam 17 festival last night (Oct. 7) and continue touring the U.S. before heading to Europe and the U.K. in November, with South American dates to follow early next year.
