Kings of Leon Tease New Album, Which Might Be Called ‘Walls’

Something seems to be brewing within the Kings of Leon camp. Judging by their social media feeds, both as a group and individually, it appears they are preparing to release a their seventh studio album, and that it could be called Walls.

Yesterday, on their Facebook page, they changed their profile picture to the one embedded above, and their cover photo to a graphic that consisted of the word “Walls.” The same two images can now be found on the band’s official Twitter page, which bears the description, “New album coming soon. #WALLS #KOL7.” Meanwhile, drummer Nathan Followill tweeted a picture of himself behind his drumkit with the caption, “It's coming. #WALLS #KOL7.” His brother, Jared, tweeted the same message with a brief, silent video.

Kings of Leon’s last record was 2013’s Mechanical Bull, which peaked at No. 2 and featured the alternative radio hits, “Supersoaker” and “Wait for Me.” As 2015 came to a close, Nathan spoke of their desire to have something out this year. “The main thing on the calendar for 2016 is getting the record finished,” he said. “And then the whole press machine kicks up and doing press for the record”

They began work on the new album last year in their hometown in Nashville, where the band bought a house that had been built in 1841 and converted it into another studio. However, in December, singer Caleb Followill said they were planning to go to head west to Los Angeles for some more work. “Our first two albums we recorded in L.A., so we’re going to try to go back and see if it inspires us,” he said. “If it doesn’t, we always have a studio at home, so we can always come back.”
