The annual Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta was held over Columbus day weekend featuring a pumpkin parade, pumpkins dropped from cranes and the main event, the pumpkin regatta. Every year the race on the waters of Damariscotta Harbor in boats made out of pumpkins draws a big crowd and gets national attention.

This year NBC Nightly News sent a camera crew up to capture Pumpkinfest. Sure, you could send someone up and have them just report about everything pumpkin, but it makes it a bit more entertain to have NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt tell the story of the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta like is was a Dr. Seuss book.

So get the kids ready for bed and all tucked in and let Lester tell them the story of how pumpkins were "magically" turned into boats.

Good night kids. Sleep well.
