This past weekend I made a trip to the Camden/Rockland area for the 10th annual Camden International Film Festival CIFF. Check out a couple of my favorite screenings.

This year, the festivals 10th year focused on documentary work. There was plenty of it and so much great stuff too. I ate a lot of popcorn.

THE SEARCH OF GENERAL TSO: this was everything I hoped it would be. It was funny, clever, informative and totally entertaining. (i was hungry pretty soon after though).

MR. DYNAMITE - THE RISE OF JAMES BROWN:

don't get this confused with "Get On Up" the docu-movie just released about The Godfather. This is a documentary about his music rise. The interviews with his band and the cats who played with him (maceo parker, pee wee ellis, fred wesley, bootsy collins, etc) are priceless. Mick Jagger was the captain behind this ship, but unfortunately didn't make it out to this showing, the first public showing ever. Oscar Winning Director Alex Gibney was there though and hosted a Q&A after the 2 hour film. I met him and the co-producer afterwards. Nice people. There's no official trailer yet, but watch this quick piece on the documentary and how you can see it this month!
