Maine Has All of the Top 10 Favorite Fast Food Restaurants Except For #1

Fast food restaurants are not in short supply here in the state of Maine, but there is something missing. Of the top 10 favorite fast food restaurants in America, we have them all here in Maine for except number one. 

The American Customer Satisfaction Index released their 2016 restaurant report that lists the top limited-service restaurants in America. That's a fancy term for fast food. All of the top 10 on the list of best in customer satisfaction are in Maine, except for number one.

10. KFC

There are less Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants than there used to be in Maine and most are now paired with Taco Bell, but we counted 18 KFC's currently in the Pine Tree State.

9. Domino's Pizza

One of three pizza chains with the best customer satisfaction on this list, Maine has 18 Domino's locations from Bangor to Kittery.

8. Chipotle Mexican Grill

Chipotle is new to Maine in recent years with five locations. This is a surprising restaurant to make the list after the E. coli outbreak they had to deal with across the country.

7. Subway

It seems just about every town in Maine has a Subway somewhere within a short drive. You probably know where one is near you.

6. Dunkin' Donuts

You think there are a lot of Subway's in Maine? Dunkin' Donuts is everywhere! Mainers run on Dunkin' so much that you even find them in Wal-Marts, Shaw's, and many local convenience stores.

5. Arby's

Arby's is here in Maine but with just a mere four locations in South Portland at the Maine Mall, Auburn, Topsham and Augusta.

4. Panera Bread

The popular bakery cafe where it seems people love to  get some work done on the free wi-fi while enjoying a cup of soup has six locations in Maine: Biddeford, South Portland, Westbrook, Topsham, Auburn and Augusta.

3. Little Caesars

Ever since Little Cesars started to offer $5 pizzas ready to go, they seem to have popped up all over Maine. It may not be the best pizza, but for $5 it's certainly your best deal.

2. Papa John's

Papa John's pizza once had six locations but with the closing of Gorham and South Portland stores, the tally in Maine is down to four in Biddeford, Portland, Brunswick and Lewiston.

1. Chick-fil-A

The southern based Chick-fil-A has over 2000 locations nationwide but absolutely none of them are here in Maine. The chicken sandwich restaurant makes more money per restaurant than McDonald's. People love their chicken. What's kept it from Maine? Who's to say? The owners do have a reputation for having controversial opinions and they aren't open on Sundays but you wouldn't think that would keep them away. There's was talk in 2015 that they would open here in Maine, but so far nothing. The nearest Chick-fil-A to Maine is in Peabody Massachusetts.
