It's not often that Maine makes national waves - trust me, most of us like it that way. So when it's a good thing that puts us on the map for our occasional 15 minutes of Fame, people tend to get really excited. That's how we feel for Will Gordon, a sophomore at Portland High School.

According to The Portland Press Herald, Gordon submitted this awesome logo design to Google's Doogle for Google contest, which accepted submissions from all over the country and US territories. It's one of 12 finalists in his age group, and one of 53 selected overall.

Being selected puts Gordon in the running to receive a $30,000 college scholarship, and on top of that, Portland High School would be awarded a $50,000 grant for technology spending.

We're rooting for you, Will! This design couldn't be any more Maine, and we're all about it. It looks as if it could be the cover of a cool children's book, or a sweet poster. Vote for Will on Google's contest page here.
