We kicked off summer last week with would qualify only as "nice" days but definitely missing that summertime feel. Mother Nature must be on social media reading our complaints because she's planning on bringing her flamethrower to the Northeast this weekend, where temperatures could eclipse 100 degrees in some parts of Maine.

Yes, you read that right. Even for summertime, the promised heat this coming weekend is going to be extreme. Making matters worse, there will be plenty of humidity involved with this wave. In the extended outlook, the forecast is calling for a dangerous mix of heat and humidity both Saturday and Sunday, leaving elderly, those who have breathing problems and certainly anyone else who is adverse to extreme heat seeking air conditioned shelter over the weekend.

It's also not going to cool down much at night. You can expect temps in the mid 70's with humidity throughout the weekend, meaning very tough sleeping conditions for everyone. The scorching hot front could be sticking around even longer too, meaning the July 4th holiday could be one to remember for multiple reasons. Stay tuned on that.

Get those air conditioners ready, you're gonna need em!
