Just a few sights and sounds from Thursdays big talent show at Windham Middle School.

I was asked to host this year's Windham Middle School Talent show and I was psyched to do it. I had a real blast. There's all kinds of talent at that school! Karate experts, gymnastics experts, magicians, singers, drummers, guitar players, dancers... it was a heck of a morning! I was honored to be a part of it all. I don't like to be a part of contests or battle of the bands cause to me, there's no winners in art. Only the people who enjoy it I suppose. But since this was a show, a display and not a contest... I was all about it!!

More than ever I feel, it's as important for young people to have creative outlets as it is important to learn from books in the classrooms. Not everyone is interested in performing in front of people and that's totally ok, but to have that chance to release on your own by writing a song, painting a picture, taking a photograph, acting out a scene, dancing or playing an instrument - that is part of human health in my book.

That's singer/guitarist Viraek Trey with me. Oh and the entire school & faculty behind us! I think about 500 people were there for the show!

Remember young drum genius Tyler Briggs who played live on-air on my show AND on the patio to kick of the 2014 Old Port Fest?

This is Mrs. Ruth & Ms. Roberts Team. They sang a hippity hop song about popsicles or something. There was a banana, a hot dog and a puffy green person on stage!

WHILE THE STAGE WAS BEING SET UP FOR THE NEXT ACT, THIS BROKE OUT! WINDHAM MIDDLE SCHOOL HAS SOME KILLER DANCE MOVES, DAMN!!!

This is Cole Chalmers, a magician with a deck of cards. Seriously, this dude was awesome! He did card tricks on stage using me as the subject. I had to snap a selfie after one insane trick he had done. The screen behind showed his tricks to the entire crowd.

At the end was a final jam with a super group featuring Tyler Briggs on drums, Vireak Trey on bass and teacher/local music friend for years Matt Shardlow. They did some Foo Fighters, AC/DC & Nirvana. Then guest MC Arelene Goff ripped the mic to "Problem".

Thanks Windham Middle School for being so cool and talented and letting me be apart of your show. Hope you all had a blast. Thanks to Mrs. Shelly Cook for her hard work putting the event together and working with the students. Thanks to Jason Lanoie, Sawyer O'Donnel and CJ Payne for their amazing technical and on stage work!

Also,  thanks to Principal Haddock for doing a good job of holding such an important event for the students and helping to put together and impressive, educated and talented student body at the Middle School. After the show today, a meeting happened in which Principal Haddock announced his up-coming retirement. I wish him the best going forward! I'm sure he will be missed at WMS.

BIG final shot out to everyone who participated and showed their super talents today... Jhennada Meas, Ariana Foster, Emily Cormier, Corbin Judy, Tedi Hassapelis, Sarah Jorgensen, Haley Loguee, Angel Spiller, Denali Dieumegard, Eden Wood, Molly Calden, Shiba Haddadi, Roya Zohori, Katelyn Smith, Dianne Ingalls, Molly Skvorak, Cole Chalmers, Tyler Briggs, Vireak Trey and Arelene Goff.
