Five Baltimore Oriole pitchers combined to limit the Boston Red Sox to just 3 hits and got just enough offense to beat the Sox in the opener of their series 2-0.Kevin Gausman pitched the first 6 innings and allowed just 2 hits while striking out 7. Darren O'Day allowed the only other Boston hit while Zach Britton closed out the game  for his 33rd save.

Baltimore got on the board in the first inning when a Josh Rutledge error allowed Adam Jones to reach first and Nolan Reimold to score. Jones would add an rbi double in the bottom of the 7th to cap the scoring and secure the win.

Eduardo Rodriguez pitched into the 6th inning and gave up one run on 5 hits and struck out 9. The loss drops the rookies record to 9-6 on the season.

Joe Kelly will take the mound for game two of the series looking for his 12th win.
