Bassist Jeff Ament has revealed Pearl Jam plan to record a new album in the coming year.

In an interview with VICE discussing his ongoing work in building skateparks in South Dakota and Montana, Ament mentioned that his future plans include opening more parks and entering the studio with his day job, Pearl Jam. In fact, he said it’s the skatepark projects that motivate his music.

“The band will probably try and get another record going in the next year,” Ament said, “and I just want to build more parks in Montana… The way I look at it is if I’m touring and doing more things with the band I make more money. If I make more money I build more parks. It helps me get more excited about touring because I’m usually not too excited about it.”

Pearl Jam released their most recent album, Lightning Bolt, back in 2013. Recently, the alt-rockers were announced as one of the headliners for this year’s Global Citizen Festival in New York City, which will take place in Central Park on Sept. 26.
