According to New York Times, Playboy Magazine will no longer feature nude women on their pages starting in March of 2016. The shift in philosophy comes after executives at Playboy admit that looking at still pictures of naked women is "passé" and that the internet allows those who are searching for provocative images and videos, to find them easily.

The shift in ideas was proposed to Hugh Hefner by the editor of the magazine, with Hefner himself admitting that Playboy needed an "update". The magazine announced that despite the lack of nudity, there still will be featured cover girls as well as a "playmate of the month" with photo spreads that are done much more tastefully. The New York Times details further changes to the magazine in their article here.

The change was brought on by the fact that Playboy's magazine circulation has dropped by almost 5 million copies in the last 30 years. In 1975, Playboy was circulating 5.6 million copies per month, but last month just 800,000 copies of the magazine were moved.

Playboy's execs do admit that by taking nudity out of the legendary magazine, it will leave some people to ask, "what's the point of this still existing?" Time will tell whether or not people have a place for Playboy in their lives without the nudity or if the magazine will always live with the stigma of being "smut".

So what do you think? Is Playboy going without nudity a good thing? Or is the magazine doomed for good?
