On June 23rd Patriots QB Tom Brady has his suspension hearing with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Today the Patriots say they have signed backup QB Matt Flynn.

Is there a connection?

Brady is facing a four game suspension and the backup quarterback is second year man Jimmy Garoppolo. So the Flynn signing is adding some veteran depth to the position.

Flynn is now 30-years-old and is an eight year veteran. He has had stints with Green Bay, Seattle, Oakland and Buffalo.

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting it is a one year deal with the Patriots.
