It may be a bit rainy out today, but I'm still in good spirits- it's almost time to go see some live music over the weekend! We have a good selection this week - everything from Ska, to Soul, to Heavy Metal. Check it out!

THURSDAY 4/26

Badfish
Aura (Portland)
7:00pm Doors / 8:00pm Show
$22 Tickets
18+
- The famous tribute to ska legends Sublime is back in town for another evening of bringing long-beach vibes to the rocky coast. If you're a Sublime fan and haven't seen these guys, you're missing out.

The Suffers
Port City Music Hall (Portland)
7:00pm Doors / 8:00pm Show
$12 Advance, $15 Day of Show
18+
- Soul music is having something of a renaissance at the moment, and I'm digging it pretty hard. One of a few new bands in this resurgence that really gets me going is this group from Muscle Shoals, who bring both a healthy dose of history and some new flavors to the table.

FRIDAY 4/27

Rosetta, Capture The Sun, KYOTY
Geno’s Rock Club (Portland)
8:30pm Show
$10 Advance / $15 Day of Show
21+
- Getting into this weekend's heavier shows, this one is bringing metal acts from all across the northeast together. NH's KYOTY calls themselves "atmospheric sludge," so any fans of Kyuss and the like will most likely want to check this out.

SATURDAY 4/28

Holy Filth, Teshuva, War Criminal, The Struggle Within
Bangor Arts Exchange Ballroom (Bangor)
7:30pm Doors / 8:00pm Show
$10 Advance, $13 Day of Show
All Ages
- I've sounded off on my love for 4-band local bills on Rave N Rage in the past, and this one is no exception. There's nothing like a music community coming together to check out a selection of what a particular genre has to offer, and this time it's one ripe for headbanging.

Saviors of Soul Present: A Tribute to the Commitments
Portland House of Music (Portland)
8:00pm Doors / 9:00pm Show
$8 Advance / $10 Day of Show
21+
- The Commitments is one of my favorite band movies ever - it's right up there with School of Rock and This Is Spinal Tap. The music selection for the film was impeccable, and the band bringing it to life at PHOME on Saturday aims to deliver that same magic.... With a little less cursing, perhaps.

That's my lineup for this weekend. Have something I missed, but you want to tell people about? Drop a link in the comments to help get the word out!
