The Boston Red Sox lost to the Tampa Bay Rays in the finale of the four game set on Thursday afternoon by a score of 2-1.

The Sox took the lead in the sixth inning after Mookie Betts drove in Bryan Holaday off of sacrifice fly.  The Rays would answer right back with a RBI single by Brad Miller in the next half inning and Mikie Mahtook would put Tampa in the lead for good with a double that drove home Steven Souza.

Drew Pomeranz received the loss for the Sox, going six innings while allowing just seven hits and a walk with 11 strikeouts.  His counterpart Odorizzi went seven innings with just one run charged to his record.

The Sox fall to 71-56 on the season and fell to a half of a game back of the Toronto Blue Jays in the AL East.  The Blue Jays plays the Angels tonight at 7:07 p.m., while Baltimore faces Washington at 7:05 p.m.  Boston will return home to face the Kansas City Royals for a three game set.
