Don't say I didn't warn ya! This Saturday is the kick off of Portland Beer Week and will be chock full of events to check out. The listing of all the events, and all the details can be found at www.portlandbeerweek.org.

After pouring over the schedule, I think I can say I found some of the weirdest, most interesting or just plain cool events - and here's my mini-list below. There are 80ish events so this is by no means an "end all be all" list for the week.

All week long

There are several places with special things happening every day of the entire #207beerweek including The Thisrty Pig, Novare Res Bier Cafe, In'finiti Fermentation & Distillation and The Great Lost Bear. So any night of beer week you can stop in and check out what's going on there.

Saturday

Port City Running tours is doing a city-wide beer themed scavenger hunt / race. So grab a few friends, lace up your shoes, and get running. Details here.

Sunday

Maine Brewer's Guild presents "Freshman Orientation." There have been a dozen breweries that have opened in the past year, making up the 2014 "Freshman class." This is the only event where you will get to taste beer from all of the new kids in one place. This event has a unique speed-dating like format where you go to your first "class" to taste some beer from a brewery, then the bell rings and you go to the next "class." A really unique format, you should not miss this one. Tickets are limited - more details here.

Also Sunday, for the cheese lovers, is a beer and cheese pairing event featuring Foundation Brewing Company and the Beer & Cheese Maven. Tasty cheeses paired with delicious beer - this happens at The King's Head. Call ahead to reserve a space. More details here.

Monday

Like scary and funny stories? Then head over to Andy's Old Port on monday for "Tales from the Brewhouse." Brewers and beer industry folks will take to the stage to tell their best stories while you sip some of their beer. A great evening of entertainment.

Tuesday

Think you know your Maine beer? Are you a total hop head? Then test your skill in a blind IPA tasting at The Thirsty Pig. You'll be given samples of 10 different Maine-brewed IPA and your challenge will be to correctly identify them. If you do, you get a $500 cash prize, so study up!

Wednesday

Wednesday marks the day of truth - Will Bill Murray show up for a pint? Even if he doesn't, you can taste all kinds of Murray-inspired brews created by Maine brewers at Novare Res.
