Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval finally got the full checkup from Dr. James Andrews and the word is that he needs shoulder surgery. That surgery is likely to put him out of action for the rest of the season.

In what continues to be a strange story between the Sox and Sandoval, the team announced surgery is coming but the team is not saying what the surgery is. Sox president Dave Dombrowski is saying a full explanation will come after surgery.

If this season is over for Sandoval, he finishes with six at bats, 0-for-6 with four strikeouts...and one snapped belt on a strikeout swing!
