While most bands, MOST bands, did nothing to help their industry on Record Store Day again this year - the biggest band in the world played a small store back road Ohio for 150 people.

You really just gotta give it up for this band. Regardless if you like them or not, they deserve a hell of a lot of love. Dave is a music fan and almost everything he does these days still mirrors that. From speeches to interviews to movies to TV series - sure he finds a way to plug his band (and why not), he's a leader for the music world. Maybe the #1 leader for music and those who love it. His band has done more on Record Store Days than almost ALL bands have ever done.

Take for example record store day this year; a day to help inject some life back into record stores and celebrate the music fan (the ones who don't want their music only floating in air). Foo Fighters went to some strip mall record store in the middle of the country in Niles, Ohio and played for barely 150 people. What a treat.

Watching RSD year after year, I bang my first down and repeat, "why doesn't every band or artist do SOMETHING for Record Store Day? I mean... what are you doing? Sitting on your ass hoping people will buy your music, wishing for a fan base to build. How can you NOT go to a local record store and play live or meet fans or hang out and spin music? Do something anything to honor those that care about what you're doing. Be a fan again and use your success to help push the industry you rely on to live. If you're making music and you're not involved in Record Store Day (long as you can), you really do lose a tremendous amount of points with me. Seriously. From sort of big bands to super big bands, the massive neglect to team up with a record store nearest you (that you maybe grew up shopping at) is unexplainable to me.

Picture walking into your hole in the wall store in Ohio and seeing this. THIS is what it's all about. When the biggest rock band in the world can bring it to a level that says, hey, this is about all of us loving the same things, so let's just party together for a little while... That's coolness my friends.

... I love that they opened with White Limo too. Go right for the nuts fellas! Love it!

Here's the fans take after the show...

And from the limited edition record they put out on that day, check out this early Foo unreleased tune...
