This all makes sense now doesn't it? Daniel always seemed to have a chip on his shoulder. He didn't care his mom's new job and new fresh start. He spent the first 20 minutes of the movie whining about movie back to Jersey! Who the hell wants to MOVE BACK to Jersey anyway?

Yeah I think we had the wool pulled over our eyes by Hollywood on this one. Just cause a guy runs with a crew based out of a local karate dojo, doesn't mean he has to play the heavy. Sure they expect girls to follow them around and can't deal with their own insecurities, but is that reason for Daniel to bring on some karate master to teach him how to bring on brutal force and violence?

Daniel needed to breathe in, breathe out a lot more. Maybe he would have cooled off.
