Most music fans alive during that period recall the classic early '90s video for Temple of the Dog's "Hunger Strike" with Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder belting their heart-wrenching vocals on a cold day as the wind rushed through the brush of a seaside landscape. The song and video became a classic and the breakout track for the band. But with Temple of the Dog celebrating the 25th anniversary of the album's release, fans are now getting an updated mix and what looks to be footage from an alternate video from the song.

Acclaimed producer Brendan O'Brien provided a new mix for the upcoming reissue, and that includes what you hear on "Hunger Strike" in the player above. The clip comes with footage shot around the time of the song in which Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder look distraught as they sit underneath a folding table with a solitary candle lit on top. The remainder of the video shows the contents of the rundown home, with ants and maggots feasting upon the dilapidated establishment.

Temple of the Dog initially formed as a tribute to late Mother Love Bone frontman Andrew Wood. Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell had been Wood's roommate, while Pearl Jam's Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard had played with Wood in Mother Love Bone prior to starting Pearl Jam. The project was borne out of songs that Cornell initially came up with and were eventually fleshed out with Ament and Gossard, along with Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron, Pearl Jam's Mike McCready and a guest appearance by Pearl Jam's new vocalist, Eddie Vedder.
