Over the weekend, Tenacious D’s Jack Black was the victim of a death hoax via Twitter. Hackers actually broke into Tenacious D’s Twitter account and tweeted a number of “announcements” regarding Black’s death, but thankfully, it turned out to be false.

2016 has felt like a year of perpetual mourning, as we’ve lost music legends like David Bowie, Prince and former Megadeth drummer Nick Menza. The world is still reeling over the sudden loss of Muhammad Ali, so Jack Black’s reported passing apparently just added another beloved star to the toll.

On Sunday (June 5), the following tweets were sent out from Tenacious D’s account:

The tweets were shared thousands of times and remained up for at least three hours before the comedic act finally got wind of the hoax. Tenacious D eventually reassured fans that Jack Black was indeed alive:

Other acts like Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, Bon Iver and Tame Impala also had their Twitter accounts hacked over the weekend, though there’s no word on if the incidents are connected.
