It hasn't been a great year for big box retailers. Electronics giant Best Buy has had their fare of closures in the past 12-24 months, including shutting the lights off in their Topsham location last year. Now Best Buy is set to pull the plug on another one of their Maine locations.

According to the Sun-Journal, the Auburn location of Best Buy is the next on the chopping block. Best Buy public relations announced on Friday evening that the Auburn store would close on October 28th. The company hopes to keep as many of their 26 full-time employees at that location as they can in some capacity.

Whether or not the store will liquidate merchandise or simply spread it out amongst other locations was not announced on Friday. Best Buy still operates stores in three of Maine's largest markets, Bangor, Augusta and South Portland. There are no immediate plans to close any of those locations.
