The Ladies Make Their Comeback in Mainstream Alternative Music [VIDEOS]

There was a long stretch of time where the females were not getting much attention in the world of alternative music. Outside of the occasional Paramore or Flyleaf song, alternative radio was about 98% male dominated.....until recently.

Do we credit Lorde for the resurgence of ladies making a comeback, or was it just time? Kinda weird to think a 16 year old from New Zealand got things going again. Since "Royals" hit big last year, artists like Phantogram and Broods have gained recognition.

Or did bands with both male and female vocalists like Of Monster and Men and Grouplove help open things up for artists like Lorde to break out?
