The Rink At Thompson’s Point Opens This Weekend In Portland
The outdoor skating rink will have beer, wine and food on-site as well as a "warming room" for those that need to take the chill off.
Outdoor public skating will become a destination in Portland starting this weekend, as the much anticipated The Rink at Thompson's Point opens Friday, December 4th at 3pm. The summertime concert venue has now been transferred into a 7500 foot outdoor skating rink, complete with beer, wine and food on-site for patrons to enjoy.
According to Eater Maine, the Rink at Thompson's Point will have a 700 square foot "hut" that will serve as a reprieve from the outdoor conditions. Inside, patrons will find a selection of wines as well as locally brewed beer on tap from Bissell Brothers, Allagash and Oxbow. Mobile kitchen PB&ME will provide the food for hungry guests. The Rink at Thompson's Point is promising free parking for everyone using the rink. Additionally there will be skate rentals on-site for just $2. Admission to the rink will be $8. The Rink at Thompson's Point also promises to be family friendly, holding various special events as well as designated times for "adult only" skating where, presumably, the beer and wine will be flowing. As much as we all want to fight it, winter is upon us and this great new skating spot will serve as another thing for both locals and tourists to enjoy. Happy skating!
