Beofre the Oxford Hills Vikings take the field before home football games, they have a ritual that has gone on for 16 years.

On August 5, 2002, start Viking football player Travis Van Durme lost his life when the car he was riding in crashed in Mechanic Falls. The driver was convicted of manslaughter after it was determined he was doing 77 mph in a 35 zone.

After Van Durme's death, a stone was placed under a tree at Gouin Field in South Paris. Before every single home game, the entire team touches the stone as the pass by to take the field.

Erica Van Durme, Travis' sister, shot this video of the team at their homecoming game paying tribute to Travis.

The Oxford Hills Vikings beat the Bangor Rams 45-0 the day this video was recorded, with a little help from Travis.
