At the tail end of 2014, Thrice returned from a two-year hiatus. Then, the following year, they shared even more exciting news: The California-based post-hardcore outfit announced they would drop a comeback album in the new year. Now, it looks like the band is hard at work making good on their promise.

Drummer Riley Breckenridge recently shared a studio update via Instagram. “Finished drums for the new @thrice_official record today,” he writes. “Tracked the last few on this beast of a @qdrumco galvanized steel kit… I’m so excited about the sounds and takes we captured.”

Since reuniting in 2014, Thrice have played a string of live dates and music festivals. They plan to release their next album sometime in 2016. When it arrives, that LP will serve as the follow-up to 2011’s Major/Minor. Frontman Dustin Kensrue has issued two solo albums since then: 2013’s The Water & the Blood and last year’s Carry the Fire.
