Two Live Music Events in Portland That You Won’t Want to Miss
Sometimes it Snows in April: A Celebration of Prince
If you've seen the amazing Prince tribute show "Purple Brainz" that goes down around Halloween each year, expect something along those lines tonight at Port City Music Hall. Dean Ford and his musician friends have been performing the music of Prince for years, usually with former keyboardist of Prince and the Revolution Matt "Doctor" Fink on keys.
Dean will be performing with his band the Keepsakes tonight. He's got the Prince thing down to a tee. Expect a nice, long celebration of the incredible musical genius that left us too soon. Tickets will be available at the door for only $13. All of the proceeds will go to City of Hope.
Sidecar at HOME (Portland House of Music). This is gonna be fun! The band who you've heard over the years on CYY and maybe seen live once or 100 times are gettin' back at it...for at least a show anyway! They have played countless shows in and outside of Maine and shared the stage with national acts including 311, Bush, Seether, Sick Puppies, Middle Class Rut, Crash Kings, State Radio and more.
After calling it a day in 2012 the band returned to the stage on April 11, 2014 at the Asylum here in Portland for just one more sold-out show for the fans. It's been just over two years since they've rocked the f**k out on stage together! Tomorrow is sure to be a memorable night...depending on how much you drink. Make sure you get there in time to check out Battery Steele, bassist Corey's current band. Tix are $10 in advance and $12 day of. Doors at 8, music at 9.
