We Hardly Knew Ye: Bob’s Stores In South Portland To Close

Call it a curse if you want. Whatever the reason is, yet another store located next to Toys 'R Us in South Portland will be closing, this time it's Bob's Stores. Vestis, the company that owns the west-coast chain Sports Chalet filed for bankruptcy last week. They also own Eastern Mountain Sports and Bob's Stores.

According to WMTW, because of Sports Chalet's financial failures, several New England locations of Eastern Mountain Sports as well as the South Portland location of Bob's Stores will be forced to close. Bob's Stores will join a lengthy list of failed business ventures in the plaza that houses Toys 'R Us, including Kids 'R Us, Eastern Mountain Sports and Tim Hortons/Coldstone.

Vestis promises that the store will stay open for a few more weeks to honor any gift cards, store credits or rewards credits obtained by customers. No word yet on the official closing date for Bob's Stores in South Portland.
