Wells Police Officer Rescues Owl That Flew Into a Car

This poor guy took a wrong turn somewhere and ran smack into a car in Wells until he was rescued by a police officer.

The photo posted on the Wells Police Department Facebook page shows the owl in the snow on the side of the road with Officer Kevin Schoff’s cruiser in the background. Officer Schoff picked up the wounded owl and transported it to the Center For Wildlife in Cape Nedick to be cared for.

We’re not owl experts, but a Google search makes us think this might be a barred owl, which like most owls are nocturnal so he might have been lying on the side of the road through the night until he was found by Officer Schoff. Maybe he hit the car while swooping down from the trees to grab some dinner in the form of a mouse.

Hopefully he’ll be able to make a full recovery.
