When January rolls around, you could be grounded.

According to WGME, signs have gone up at the Portland International Jetport indicating that your Maine driver's license won't be enough to let you get on a plane starting Jan. 22, 2018.

The state of Maine opted out of the Real ID program a ways back, but according to WGME, the state agreed to conform to the Real ID law in May. The news station reported that the problem is that new compliant IDs won't likely be ready by that January deadline.

The secretary of state said it's possible that there could be an extension given for driver's licenses for air travel until the new licenses are ready to be given out, according to WGME.

But time will tell to see how this all plays out.
