According to WMGE, Maine State Police reported that one person was killed in a crash on I-295 in Falmouth and two others were injured on Friday afternoon.

The Maine Turnpike Authority mentioned the crash in a Facebook post, followed by a few updates about significant delays and finding an alternate route.

At about 3:30 p.m., the MTA posted on Facebook: "One lane is open on 295 northbound. There are major delays back to the Portland area northbound. For Falmouth points north, use I-95."

Parts of the roadway were closed due to the crash, and motorists should expect delays through early evening.

First responders were on the scene, and News Center Maine reported that the car in the crash was "torn apart" after going off the road and hitting some rocks.

The news station reported that the cause of the crash hadn't been determined yet.
